All people are different. We communicate differently, we experience emotions differently, our bodies are shaped differently, we have different hair colors, drive different cars, and live in different houses. Our brains even work differently… and as you’ll learn in this session, the 1 in 7 children with prenatal exposure to alcohol have brains that have developed differently than those without prenatal alcohol exposure.
In this session you will learn:
· What Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is, the prevalence, and how it can be prevented
· How prenatal alcohol exposure affects a developing brain
· The link between brain function and behaviors- challenges and strengths
· Strategies for changing behaviors
· What you can do to prevent FASD and support individuals that may have it
